Safety with pet toys
Dogs love to play with their owners, it is an important activity for your dog to get exercise as well as mental stimulation and to create a strong bond with you. Dog toys are available in different varieties such as dog bones, squeaking toys, sticks etc. and all serve different purposes. There may be a wide variety of toys for your dog to play with, but it is best to put away those toys which can cause danger, before you leave your house. Toys like rawhide requires more attention and supervision. Think of safety first, while choosing which toys to leave out, considering those which pose a risk to your pet.
Although toys prevent boredom and problems behavior of your dog but some Dog Toys are not safe at all such as:
Rubber toys
Toys which are made up of rubber can be dangerous for pets. They are made up of thick rubber to stand up for a long time of chewing. Strings, ribbons and elastic toys may be interesting to your dog but they are not the good choice when you leave home.
Synthetic Nylabones
If your pet is aggressive chewer then this may not be the best choice for him. It has the shape of bone which dogs love, but won’t splinter like real bones. Other than real meat juice for great taste, they also prevent plaque build-up.
Interactive Treat toys
These type of toys made from high impact plastic, engage your pet’s mind while you are away. Tricky treat ball is a toy in which you can tuck treats inside that only come out when your pet paws and noses them. Some toys with plastic bits that can be chewed off should be avoided.
Try to give safe toys to him which keep his imagination active, promote mental health and discourage destructive behavior. Keep safety in your mind while treating them with different kind of toys. You need to look all time at this, but not only when you are leaving your pet alone at home.
